The center, an expansion of the primary care clinic, has three-dimensional mammography equipment. The equipment can produce images in under 30 seconds and involves less radiation, Robyn Kippen, a mammographer at the center, told The Pueblo Chieftain.
The 12-staff center offers other breast cancer support services; however, radiation treatments will still be conducted at the hospital.
The center’s equipment was funded by the St. Mary-Corwin Hospital Foundation, which raised $330,000 from community fundraisers like the Cowboys Kicking Cancer event at the Colorado State Fair, according to the report.
