Dr. Shaw will develop programs for hospice, palliative care and end-of-life research at Huntington, an affiliate of Cedars-Sinai Cancer, according to the release shared with Becker’s.
“Cancer affects every aspect of a person’s life, so it’s important that we identify goals of care, encourage patients to express their preferences regarding medical treatments, and help to ensure that goals are honored,” Dr. Shaw said in the release. “Supportive care medicine allows us to treat the whole person, not just their diagnosis.”
At the Becker's Perioperative Summit, taking place September 14–15 in Chicago, perioperative leaders and healthcare executives will focus on improving operating room efficiency, enhancing patient safety, optimizing staffing and driving innovation across surgical services.
