Kentucky cancer center creates $2.4M endowed chair

Lexington-based University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center received a $1.6 million gift to establish the John R. van Nagell, Jr. Chair in Gynecologic Oncology.

The gift was given by the Telford Foundation in honor of UK Markey Cancer Center’s medical director, John van Nagell, MD, who created the ovarian cancer screening program.

The donation is matched by $800,000 from UK’s Research Challenge Trust Fund to create a total of $2.4 million to support the senior-level faculty position.
