A date for the strike, which requires a 10-day notice to the hospital, has not yet been scheduled.

This is the first time the nurses at the healthcare system’s Merrimack Valley location have negotiated a contract. The hospital opened in 2020, and registered nurses unionized there in mid-2022.

Nurses at the Merrimack Valley location are calling for pay and benefits equal to what the 600 nurses at the hospital’s main campus in Boston have negotiated under a separate contract.

Negotiations have been ongoing for more than seven months, the news release said.
