Each year, the program will offer two or three nurses with a PhD or equivalent degree two years of advanced research training, according to a Nov. 26 news release from the university.
One of the program goals is to prepare nurse researchers for leadership positions at comprehensive cancer centers, medical schools and universities.
“Trainees will gain the knowledge and experience needed to launch independent research careers that address critical issues in cancer care and health equity,” the release said.
Participants will be able to tailor their education with the option to pursue a master’s in cancer science, according to the release.
