The National Cancer Institute has proposed an $11.537 billion budget for fiscal 2027, increasing the appropriated budget by $4.313 billion, almost double the proposed increase from fiscal 2026.
Here is how the NCI proposal breaks down the budget increase:
- $1 billion to cancer biology research
- $575 million for cancer prevention and control research
- $846 million for cancer detection and diagnosis research
- $1.718 billion for cancer treatment research
- $174 million for training and infrastructure
