Ann Arbor-based University of Michigan will launch a training program aimed at equipping cancer researchers and scientists with the skills to design, evaluate and adapt personalized cancer care interventions.

The Methods for Adapting and Personalizing Cancer Control Interventions training program was developed by the university’s Data Science for Dynamic Intervention Decision-Making Center in partnership with the Rogel Cancer Center, according to an Oct. 22 news release from the university.

“With MAPCI, we’re equipping researchers and practitioners with the data science tools to learn when, for whom and under what circumstances an intervention works — and to act on that knowledge,” Billie Nahum-Shani, PhD, co-leader of the training program and director of the Data Science for Dynamic Intervention Decision-Making Center, said in the release.

The program will be funded through a five-year, $1.47 million award from the National Cancer Institute.
