The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center has established its first Specialized Program of Research Excellence through an award from the National Cancer Institute.
The Sylvester Cancer Center program — called Personalized Outreach and Multifaceted Interventions for Screening Enhancement or PROMISE — was developed in collaboration with Atlanta-based Emory University and Atlanta-based Morehouse School of Medicine, according to a March 18 news release from the University of Miami.
PROMISE is led by Erin Kobetz, PhD, vice president for health promotion and chief wellbeing officer and the John K. and Judy H. Schulte Senior Endowed Chair in Cancer Research at Sylvester.
The program will focus on three large research projects aimed at transforming the treatment and prevention of anal and cervical cancer, the release said.
