Yale New Haven (Conn.) Health has begun construction on the new Smilow Cancer Hospital at Greenwich (Conn.) Hospital.

The health system marked the expansion with a wall-breaking ceremony April 1, according to an April 2 news release shared with Becker’s.

The new facilities will bring medical and radiation oncology, infusion, surgical, diagnostic and support care services together as part of a fully integrated cancer hospital on the Greenwich Hospital campus. The project is expected to be completed in early 2029, the release said.

Smilow Cancer Hospital operates out of its flagship location in New Haven, Conn., and 16 additional Yale New Haven Health facilities.

At the Becker's Perioperative Summit, taking place September 14–15 in Chicago, perioperative leaders and healthcare executives will focus on improving operating room efficiency, enhancing patient safety, optimizing staffing and driving innovation across surgical services.
