Santa Monica, Calif.-based Providence Saint John’s Health Center — part of Renton, Wash.-based Providence — has received an estimated $100 million gift for cancer research, the largest philanthropic gift in the organization’s history.
The gift will establish the Stanley H. Lucas Endowed Chair in Urology, which will support research initiatives for prostate cancer and other urologic diseases, according to an April 8 news release from the health center.
Before his death, Stan Lucas received care for prostate cancer at Saint John’s Health Center, leading him to name the Saint John’s Health Center Foundation as a primary beneficiary for his estate.
At the Becker's Perioperative Summit, taking place September 14–15 in Chicago, perioperative leaders and healthcare executives will focus on improving operating room efficiency, enhancing patient safety, optimizing staffing and driving innovation across surgical services.
