Tampa General, Lakeland Regional expand cancer network, add specialists

Tampa (Fla.) General Hospital and Lakeland (Fla.) Regional Health — which recently partnered to establish a larger cancer care network — have added three medical oncology specialists to the Hollis Cancer Center, also in Lakeland. 

“Through this partnership, [patients] can benefit from streamlined access to higher levels of consultation, multidisciplinary care planning and a clinical research infrastructure supported by the TGH Cancer Institute in partnership with the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine,” according to a May 11 news release from Tampa General Hospital. 

The specialists joining the cancer center are: 

  • Ankit Kansagra, MD, associate vice president of oncology integration and community alignment at TGH Cancer Institute
  • David Swoboda, MD, clinical director of leukemia at TGH Cancer Institute
  • Noman Ashraf, MD, director of medical oncology at TGH Cancer Institute
