Among 11 cancer hospitals exempt from reporting to Medicare’s Inpatient Prospective Payment System, Buffalo, N.Y.-based Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center had the lowest 30-day unplanned readmission rate between Oct. 1, 2023, and Sept. 30. 2024, according to CMS data published May 13.
Roswell Park’s rate was 15.3 while the national 30-day unplanned readmission rate for the same time period was 22.1.
Eleven cancer hospitals are required to participate in the PPS-Exempt Cancer Hospital Quality Reporting Program, a specialized quality reporting program established in 2010 by the ACA.
