Huntsman Cancer Institute names 5 endowed chairs

Five leaders at Salt Lake City-based Huntsman Cancer Institute have been appointed to endowed chair positions. 

Two additional leaders have had their chair positions renewed, according to a July 21 news release from Huntsman Cancer Institute. 

The five endowed chair appointments and two renewals are:

1. Bradley Cairns, PhD, CEO of Huntsman Cancer Institute, has been appointed the Jon M. Huntsman Presidential Endowed Chair in Cancer Leadership.
   
   
2. Douglas Sborov, MD, director of the Hematology Disease Center and Plasma Cell Dyscrasias Program and co-leader of the Hematologic Malignancies Clinical Trials Research Group, has been appointed the Craig and Marianne Meacham Endowed Chair in Hematological Oncology.
   
   
3. Cornelia Ulrich, PhD, executive director and chief scientific officer of the Comprehensive Cancer Center at Huntsman Cancer Institute, has been appointed the inaugural Mary C. Beckerle Presidential Endowed Chair in Cancer Research and Leadership.
   
   
4. Jairam Krishnamurthy, MD, leader of the Breast Cancer Clinical Trials Research Group and  co-leader of the Breast and Gynecologic Cancer Center, has been appointed the Huntsman Cancer Institute Endowed Chair in Women’s Cancer Research. 
   
   
5. Luis Batista, PhD, hematologic oncologist, researcher and leader of the Center for Telomere Biology Disorders, has been appointed the Huntsman Cancer Institute Presidential Chair in Hematologic Malignancies Research. 
   
   
6. Sean Tavtigian, PhD, co-leader of Huntsman Cancer Institute’s Cancer Control and Population Sciences Program, has been renewed as the Jon and Karen Huntsman Presidential Professor in Cancer Research. 
   
   
7. David Wetter, PhD, senior director of cancer health implementation and director of the Center for HOPE at Huntsman Cancer Institute, has been renewed as the Jon and Karen Huntsman Presidential Professor in Cancer Research.
