Tampa, Fla.-based Moffitt Cancer Center has launched a radiopharmaceutical program at its Land O’ Lakes, Fla.-based research facility and medical campus, Speros. The program will focus on radiopharmaceutical research, development, clinical translation and manufacturing.
The program will be led by Ghassan El-Haddad, MD, vice chair of radiopharmaceutical and nuclear oncology, and Josh Carpenter, PhD, president of Speros and chief integration officer at Moffitt, according to an Aug. 25 news release from the cancer center.
Dr. El-Haddad will lead clinical strategy while Dr. Carpenter will oversee strategic and executive operations. Moffitt also recently hired Ivis Chaple, PhD, as director of radioisotope research and development.
“Theranostics represent a promising new method to diagnose and treat cancer,” Patrick Hwu, MD, president and CEO of Moffitt, said in the release. “Moffitt is in a unique position to lead in radiopharmaceuticals, and we are investing in the talent and infrastructure to solidify it as a strategic priority.”
