Allegheny Health Network to launch early phase clinical trials

Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Health Network will launch an early-phase clinical trial site in partnership with San Antonio-based START Center for Cancer Research. 

The trial site will be established within the AHN Cancer Center at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, according to an Aug. 25 news release from the health system. 

New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Northwell Health opened a $5.7 million early-phase clinical trial center with START at Northwell’s R.J. Zuckerberg Cancer Center in Lake Success, N.Y., in 2025, and plans to open a second START site in 2027.

In May, Coral Gables, Fla.-based Baptist Health South Florida announced plans to establish a START early-phase cancer clinical trial site in collaboration with its Herbert Wertheim Cancer Institute.
