The University of Arizona College of Medicine Phoenix has tapped Julie Bauman, MD, as the inaugural chair for the department of interdisciplinary oncology.
Dr. Bauman was also appointed senior medical director of oncology research at Phoenix-based Banner Health, according to a Sept. 9 news release from the university.
She previously served as director of the Washington, D.C.-based George Washington University Cancer Center and associate dean of cancer programs at the George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences.
Dr. Bauman is deputy principal investigator for the NRG National Community Oncology Research Program and co-chair of the National Cancer Institute’s Cancer Prevention Steering Committee, the release said.
