Indianapolis-based Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center has received $10 million to establish the Jeff Schwarz Center for Neuro-Oncology Research.
The Indiana University School of Medicine will contribute an additional $5 million to the center, which will be housed in the Medical Education and Research Building, according to a Sept. 24 news release from the university.
The $10 million gift will establish two endowed positions: the Jeff Schwarz Senior Professor in Neuro-Oncology Research and the Jack Schwarz Professor in Neuro-Oncology Research.
Jeff Schwarz, an Indiana University alumnus who died of glioblastoma in 2023, and his family established the university’s Schwarz Family and Friends Cancer Research Fund in 2022.
