Trump adviser named to HHS cancer panel

HHS has appointed Michael Caputo, a former adviser to the Trump administration, to serve on the President’s Cancer Panel. 

The President’s Cancer Panel was established in 1971 through the National Cancer Act and monitors the activities of the National Cancer Program. 

Mr. Caputo was a senior communications and policy adviser for President Donald Trump’s 2016 and 2024 presidential campaigns and previously served as HHS’ assistant secretary for public affairs, according to an Oct. 4 news release from HHS. 

A cancer survivor, Mr. Caputo was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma in 2020.

He is also co-founder and executive vice president of Ave Maria Biotech, and an adviser to the Boies Schiller Flexner law firm and Duarte, Calif.-based City of Hope, the release said.
