Karmanos Cancer Institute taps network leader

Detroit-based Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute has tapped Stefan Grant, MD, as associate center director and medical director of the Karmanos Cancer Network.

Dr. Grant will also serve as vice chair of clinical operations, co-leader of the Thoracic Oncology Multidisciplinary Team and a member of the Phase I Clinical Trials Multidisciplinary Team, according to an Oct. 6 news release from Karmanos.

He joins Karmanos from New Orleans-based Louisiana Cancer Research Center, where he served as co-director, and New Orleans-based Tulane University School of Medicine where he served as division chief of hematology oncology and director of the Tulane Cancer Center.

Dr. Grant previously held appointments at Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital, UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center and New York City-based Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, the release said.
