Ascension St. Vincent’s St. Johns (Fla.) County hospital has opened a neuro-oncology clinic to coordinate care across specialties.
Aristotelis Filippidis, MD, PhD, director of neurosurgical oncology, leads the clinic alongside a multidisciplinary oncology team, according to a Sept. 18 news release from Ascension.
The clinic brings neurosurgery, oncology and support services into one location for patients with brain and spine tumors.
“Our goal is to remove as many barriers as possible for patients during one of the most challenging times in their lives,” Dr. Filippidis said in the release. “Through the opening of this new clinic, we can provide individualized treatment plans and coordinated care that keeps the patient at the center of every decision and closer to home.”
