Philadelphia-based Penn Medicine has launched a joint venture with the particle accelerator technology manufacturer and supplier — Belgium-based Ion Beam Applications — that aims to help healthcare organizations develop and sustain proton therapy and advanced radiation oncology programs.
The venture, called Noventra Oncology Alliance, will provide strategic and financial planning, clinical readiness, program implementation and long-term operational performance services, according to a Sept. 28 news release from the university.
“We are creating a unique platform to help healthcare organizations deliver exceptional care to patients while building sustainable, high-performing oncology programs,” James Metz, MD, chair of radiation oncology at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, said in the release.
