Morgantown-based West Virginia University School of Medicine has named Brian Boone, MD, division chief of surgical oncology.
Dr. Boone joined the division of surgical oncology in 2018 and was named a Benedum Distinguished Scholar in biosciences and health sciences in 2026, according to an Aug. 5 news release from the university.
The division chief of surgical oncology position was previously held by Carl Schmidt, MD, who was named chair of the department of surgery in July.
