Michael Kastan, MD, PhD, is stepping down as executive director of the Duke Cancer Institute, a position he has held since 2011. The Duke Cancer Institute is part of Durham, N.C.-based Duke University Health System.
Dr. Kastan is the inaugural executive director and will remain in the position until a successor is named, according to an Oct. 24 news release from the institute. He will continue to serve as a Duke faculty member.
Duke University Health System has also appointed Diane Reidy-Lagunes, MD, to the Joseph O. Moore, MD, Directorship in Oncology, an endowed clinical directorship, according to an Oct. 30 news release.
Dr. Reidy-Lagunes is chief of the division of medical oncology and a professor of medicine in the department of medicine at Duke University School of Medicine.
She will also begin serving as the system’s physician-vice president of cancer services in November.
