Atrium Health cancer centers tap Dr. Ruben Mesa for director

Charlotte, N.C.-based Atrium Health tapped Ruben Mesa, MD, for director of the Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Cancer Center in Winston-Salem and the Levine Cancer Institute in Charlotte, Winston-Salem Journal reported Dec. 13.

Dr. Mesa will replace interim director William Blackstock, MD, starting in mid-January. He was also appointed vice dean for cancer programs at Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem.

Previously, he served as executive director of the Mays Cancer Center at UT Health San Antonio MD Anderson and professor of medicine at UT Health Science Center San Antonio.
