Children’s Mercy names molecular oncology, cell therapy leader

Kansas City, Mo.-based Children’s Mercy has appointed Yong Li, PhD, inaugural division director of the newly established Molecular Oncology and Cellular Therapeutics program.

He has also been appointed the first Paul and Linda DeBruce Endowed Chair in Cancer Immunotherapy, according to a June 15 news release from Children’s Mercy.

As director, Dr. Li will collaborate with the University of Kansas Cancer Center on pediatric research, ensuring Children’s Mercy patients have access to cellular and immunotherapy treatments, the release said. 

Dr. Li most recently led molecular epidemiology at Houston-based Baylor College of Medicine, where he served as a professor and a Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas scholar.
