Karen Knudsen, PhD, has been appointed CEO of San Francisco-based Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy.
Dr. Knudsen previously served as CEO for both the American Cancer Society and ACS Cancer Action Network, according to a March 31 news release from the Parker Institute.
Before leading the American Cancer Society, she served as executive vice president of oncology services at Philadelphia-based Jefferson Health and enterprise director of the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center, also in Philadelphia.
“By leveraging her deep understanding of translational science and strategic partnerships, Dr. Knudsen will drive PICI’s mission forward — turning groundbreaking discoveries into real-world therapies that transform cancer care and bring curative solutions to patients faster,” the institute said in the release.
Dr. Knudsen will receive the American Society of Cancer Oncology’s Allen Lichter Visionary Leader Award in May.
