Grand Junction, Colo.-based Intermountain Health is now offering eligible patients with metastatic pancreatic cancer access to daraxonrasib, an investigational therapy that health system leaders said marks the first significant treatment advance for the disease in years, according to an Aug. 2 report from KKCO 11 News.
Daraxonrasib is a first-in-class therapy for metastatic pancreatic cancer that has not received FDA approval. Alicia Swink, MD, senior director of oncology for Intermountain Health’s Peaks Region, said results from a clinical trial showed the therapy more than doubled the expected survival of patients compared with previous treatment options, according to the report. The trial also found patients responded to daraxonrasib even after receiving prior rounds of chemotherapy.
Intermountain evaluates patients individually to determine whether daraxonrasib is an appropriate treatment option, noting the investigational therapy is not suitable for every patient.
