MD Anderson receives $19M for cancer research

Houston-based University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center has received more than $19 million from the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas.

To date, CPRIT has given more than $4 billion in cancer research awards, of which MD Anderson has received more than $745 million, according to a May 20 news release from the cancer center. 

The most recent funding will support a statewide platform to assess and improve health outcomes of adolescent and young adult cancer survivors, a cancer research training program for basic and translational scientists, future recruitment and other research initiatives.
