The treatment took place at the center Aug. 30, according to a Sept. 4 news release from Cooper University Health Care, also based in Camden.
Histotripsy was approved by the FDA in 2023 and uses sound waves to destroy liver tumors, according to the release.
“Histotripsy doesn’t require incisions, has minimal side effects and involves a short recovery time,” Young Ki Hong, MD, head of the surgical oncology division at Cooper University Health Care, said in the release. “Studies show it has a 95% success rate in destroying tumors without harming surrounding tissues.”
