Tampa, Fla.-based Moffitt Cancer Center has launched a venture studio aimed at leveraging insights from health systems’ intellectual property — starting with Moffitt’s own —  to develop “scalable solutions” for unmet clinical needs.

The center’s AccelerOnco Studio is the first venture studio in the U.S. dedicated to oncology innovation, according to a Sept. 22 news release from Moffitt.

The studio will incubate startups rooted in Moffitt’s existing pipeline, with plans to expand across the broader oncology ecosystem. Its areas of focus will include diagnostics, therapeutics, digital health, artificial intelligence and data-driven platforms.

“We’re leveraging Moffitt’s unparalleled clinical data, analytical power and deep clinical expertise to build ventures that can truly scale,” Kamal Jethwani, MD, vice president of digital ventures and leader of AccelerOnc Studio, said in the release. “Our explorations range from finding ways to deliver Moffitt’s clinical excellence to patients globally to developing AI engines to support diagnosis, treatment planning and precision oncology at scale.”
