NCI proposes $4.3B budget increase for FY 2027

The National Cancer Institute has proposed an $11.537 billion budget for fiscal 2027, increasing the appropriated budget by $4.313 billion, almost double the proposed increase from fiscal 2026.

Here is how the NCI proposal breaks down the budget increase:

  • $1 billion to cancer biology research
  • $575 million for cancer prevention and control research
  • $846 million for cancer detection and diagnosis research
  • $1.718 billion for cancer treatment research
  • $174 million for training and infrastructure
