Chicago-based Northwestern Medicine plans to build a $275 million cancer center in Orland Park, Ill., according to a July 1 report from the Chicago Tribune

The project will be partially funded through a $225 million donation from the St. George Foundation. Pending approval by the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board, construction on the new facility would begin in October and is expected to be completed by March 2030, the report said.

The St. George Foundation previously donated $51 million to the health system to establish the Northwestern Medicine St. George Cancer Institute, also in Orland Park, which will be “repurposed for other clinical services” once the new cancer center is established, Northwestern told the Tribune.

At the Becker's Perioperative Summit, taking place September 14–15 in Chicago, perioperative leaders and healthcare executives will focus on improving operating room efficiency, enhancing patient safety, optimizing staffing and driving innovation across surgical services.
