New York City-based NYU Langone Health has appointed Anirban Maitra, MD, as director of the Laura and Isaac Perlmutter Cancer Center.
Dr. Maitra joined NYU Langone in August 2025 as co-director of the newly established NYU Langone Gastrointestinal Cancer Center.
He previously served as the inaugural scientific director of the Pancreatic Cancer Research Center at Houston-based University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, according to a Jan. 28 news release from NYU Langone.
Dr. Maitra succeeds Alec Kimmelman, MD, PhD, as director of the cancer center. Dr. Kimmelman was appointed CEO and dean of NYU Langone Health in September.
