The total U.S. healthcare system costs for initial cancer screenings in 2021 were an estimated $43 billion, according to a study published Aug. 5 in The Annals of Internal Medicine.

 A new project through the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health, or ARPA-H, aims to create an at-home cancer screening test that can detect more than 30 types of Stage 1 cancers using breath or urine samples.

Researchers at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center are sending T-cells to the International Space Station to investigate how microgravity affects the cells, which could lead to advancements in treatments for cancer and autoimmune diseases.
