Duarte, Calif.-based City of Hope, a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer research and treatment organization, announced Dec. 8 it will acquire Cancer Treatment Centers of America, a national network of oncology hospitals and outpatient care centers.

The American Cancer Society named five new members to its board of directors, with all terms beginning on Jan. 1, the organization said Dec. 7.

The American Cancer Society has named Arif Kamal, MD, the organization's first chief patient officer, it said Dec. 6. 

Philadelphia-based Penn Medicine announced five new physicians leading the institution's cancer care teams in a Dec. 3 blog post. 

These eight oncologists joined new practices, received new appointments or left their positions over the last few weeks.

Scott Lippman, MD, will step down as director of Moores Cancer Center at University of California-San Diego Health once a successor is found, according to a Nov. 29 news release.
