Sacramento, Calif.-based Sutter Health is piloting a GPS-style program to improve care coordination after mammograms for patients identified as having a high risk for breast cancer.

The system will enroll 250 patients to test the program at San Francisco-based California Pacific Medical Center, according to a Feb. 11 news release from Sutter Health.

Once identified as high-risk, patients are immediately contacted by a nurse navigator who coordinates follow-up services with care teams across specialties and service lines.

The health system is planning a systemwide rollout of the program by 2028.

At the Becker's Perioperative Summit, taking place September 14–15 in Chicago, perioperative leaders and healthcare executives will focus on improving operating room efficiency, enhancing patient safety, optimizing staffing and driving innovation across surgical services.
