Tampa General Hospital appoints research leader

Tampa (Fla.) General Hospital has appointed Gustavo Rivero, MD, as director of translation research for hematologic malignancies. 

A physician-scientist, Dr. Rivero also serves as an associate professor in the division of hematology and oncology at Tampa-based University of South Florida’s Health Morsani College of Medicine, according to a Jan. 22 news release from Tampa General Hospital. 

Dr. Rivero was previously leukemia program director at Washington, D.C.-based Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center at Georgetown University School of Medicine, the release said.
