Tampa (Fla.) General Cancer Institute has partnered with virtual oncology platform Reimagine Care to expand access to cancer care and reduce avoidable hospitalizations.

Four details:

  1. Tampa General will integrate the company’s virtual cancer program into its clinical pathways. The platform provides symptom monitoring, triage and early intervention support, according to a Dec. 16 news release.

  2. The partnership aims to reduce preventable emergency department visits and admissions among cancer patients, as well as lessen administrative burdens for oncologists.

  3. TGH Ventures — the health system’s venture capital arm — also invested in Reimagine Care. Leaders at Tampa General said the virtual platform’s business model strategically aligns with its mission and will enhance its ability to provide advanced, specialized care to patients.

  4. The collaboration comes as the cancer burden in the region rises, with Florida seeing roughly 115,000 new diagnoses annually.
