Tampa (Fla.) General Hospital Cancer Institute and Tampa, Fla.-based USF Health Morsani College of Medicine have earned a cancer center of excellence designation from the Florida Department of Health.
The designation is a “significant” step for the TGH Cancer Institute toward earning a designation from the National Cancer Institute in the future, according to a March 24 news release from Tampa General Hospital.
TGH Cancer Institute’s state designation was awarded after a review by the Florida Cancer Control and Research Advisory Council and the Biomedical Research Advisory Council, the release said.
