The Texas Legislature has approved $25 million in funding for Lubbock-based Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center to establish the Rural Cancer Collaborative.

TTUHSC will use the funding to develop “sustainable, high-impact solutions that bring lifesaving care closer to home,” according to a July 31 news release from the medical school.

Academic leaders will work alongside cancer investigators and clinicians to increase access to preventive cancer services, treatments and research throughout Texas’ rural communities, the release said.
