U of Hawaii to open state’s 1st clinical trial center

The University of Hawaii Cancer Center has received more than $1 million from The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust to fund start-up costs for the Ho’ola Early Phase Clinical Research Center. 

The Ho’ola Early Phase Clinical Research Center is scheduled to open in March and will provide access to clinical cancer trials for the first time in Hawaii’s history, according to a Dec. 18 news release from the university. 

The University of Hawaii’s John A. Burns School of Medicine also received more than $1 million from the Helmsley Trust and will put the funds toward upgraded simulation technology and training resources for the school.
