Gainesville, Fla.-based UF Health has granted an institute title to the University of Florida Health Cancer Center.

The title recognizes the UF Health Cancer Institute’s efforts to engage researchers across all 16 colleges at the University of Florida, according to an Oct. 27 news release from UF Health.

The institute will expand its focus on clinical research sciences over the next decade as it works toward a comprehensive designation from the National Cancer Institute, the release said.

“We plan to grow our impact by fostering collaborations to meet the challenges of cancer in the 21st century, while cultivating leaders in the field and training the next generation of investigators,” Jonathan Licht, MD, director of the UF Health Cancer Institute, said in the release.
