The gift was from Judith Hale, her son Robert Hale, Jr., and his wife Karen Hale to honor Ms. Hale’s late husband, Robert Hale Sr., a former Dana-Farber patient who died in 2008. The gift brings the Hale family’s total contributions to Dana-Farber to more than $80 million.
The gift will support two main areas of pancreatic cancer research: early detection and prevention, and precision medicine and biology.
“Our intention is to substantially speed the pace of research and new treatments for this terrible disease,” Ms. Hale, a member of the Dana-Farber board of trustees, said in a news release. “We are investing in the exceptional talent at Dana-Farber because we are committed to finding a cure. That would be a wonderful honor for my husband and legacy for our family.”
