Tampa, Fla.-based Moffitt Cancer Center has begun piloting a consultation program for adolescents and young adults diagnosed with cancer.
Lindsay Manley, MSN, APRN, is leading the pilot; she saw seven patients in the program’s first month, according to a Dec. 19 news release from the cancer center.
“I tell them this is the appointment where you get to talk about everything else except for cancer,” Ms. Manley said in the release.
The program is open to patients with breast, gastrointestinal and genitourinary cancers. During the consultations, patients discuss fertility and are provided the appropriate referrals for genetics, psychosocial challenges and survivorship.
