Buffalo, N.Y.-based Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center has received $3 million to support the expansion of its Community Outreach and Engagement Center.

The funding will be used to develop a Health, Outreach and Prevention Excellence Center. Roswell Park will begin construction on the center in the fall, according to a Feb. 19 news release from the cancer center.

Roswell Park opened the Community Outreach and Engagement Center in 2023 and has served nearly 9,000 visitors with cancer awareness and education programs, cancer screening navigation and financial wellness programming, the release said.

The HOPE Center expansion will focus on mitigating the social determinants of health including employment and housing instability as well as caregiver support programs and foreign-language outreach initiatives.

At the Becker's Perioperative Summit, taking place September 14–15 in Chicago, perioperative leaders and healthcare executives will focus on improving operating room efficiency, enhancing patient safety, optimizing staffing and driving innovation across surgical services.
