On March 27, Nashville, Tenn.-based VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare System will open an oncology services and infusion center in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Veterans previously traveled nearly two hours to VA facilities in Nashville or Murfreesboro, Tenn. for cancer care, according to a news release from the health system.

The new cancer center is part of the VA’s Close to Me program, which has expanded access to cancer care for veterans at 30 outpatient clinics across the U.S.

At the Becker's Perioperative Summit, taking place September 14–15 in Chicago, perioperative leaders and healthcare executives will focus on improving operating room efficiency, enhancing patient safety, optimizing staffing and driving innovation across surgical services.
