Detroit-based Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute has updated the mobile application patients and physicians use to communicate about cancer clinical trials.

The KCI Clinical Trials App has more than 160 protocols listed, led by 33 investigators across 13 Karmanos Cancer Institute locations for more than 35 cancer types, according to a July 13 news release from Grand Blanc, Mich.-based McLaren Health Care, of which the Karmanos Cancer Institute is part.

The app allows patients to search for available clinical trials and connect with the Karmanos team about enrollment, while also enabling physicians to refer patients for trials.

At the Becker's Perioperative Summit, taking place September 14–15 in Chicago, perioperative leaders and healthcare executives will focus on improving operating room efficiency, enhancing patient safety, optimizing staffing and driving innovation across surgical services.
