University Medical Center New Orleans, part of New Orleans-based LCMC Health, has completed a $2 million expansion of its cancer center.
The expansion increases UMC Cancer Center’s care capacity to 28 exam rooms and 25 infusion chairs, according to an Aug. 24 news release shared with Becker’s.
More than 60 physicians across 16 cancer specialties care for about 70 to 80 cancer patients at the center each day. The center enrolled about 300 patients in cancer clinical trials and studies in 2025, the release said.
“This gives our physicians and clinical teams something incredibly important: room to grow,” LCMC Health Cancer Service Line Director Amelia Jernigan, MD, said in the release. “We have outstanding programs already in place, and this expansion gives us the capacity to build additional services […] serve more people, offer more specialized expertise and continue bringing new treatments and resources to our patients.”
