The University of Pittsburgh has launched its first undergraduate cancer-focused research program.
The Program in Cancer Training and Education began in summer 2026 and pairs 10 students with faculty labs affiliated with UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, according to a Sept. 17 university news release.
Participants receive a stipend and housing allowance and conduct research spanning both the summer and fall terms, longer than typical undergraduate placements.
The program was developed by faculty in the university’s Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences and is backed by five years of initial funding, with plans to expand student and faculty participation in the years ahead.
