Development of Salt Lake City-based Huntsman Cancer Institute’s new facility in Vineyard, Utah, has entered its next phase with the start of vertical construction.
Construction on the building’s exterior will begin in fall 2026, with completion expected by summer 2028, according to a Sept. 2 news release from the cancer institute.
In 2025, more than 52,000 patients traveled about 3.9 million miles to Salt Lake City to receive care at Huntsman Cancer Institute.
“The Vineyard location will ease the travel burden for patients in central and southern portions of the state and beyond, saving patients more than two hours of travel time per visit or an estimated 1.1 million miles per year,” the release said.
At the Becker's Perioperative Summit, taking place September 14–15 in Chicago, perioperative leaders and healthcare executives will focus on improving operating room efficiency, enhancing patient safety, optimizing staffing and driving innovation across surgical services.
